Before step one: You are using a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, to view Help. For all procedures, switch back to Internet Mail and News by clicking one of its windows or choosing it on the Finder menu before you do step one. |
- On the Message menu, choose New Mail Message.
- In the To, CC, and BCC boxes, type the names of the message recipients.
You can:
- Type an e-mail address. If you are typing multiple addresses, separate each address by a comma (,) or semicolon (;).
- Type the name of an entry from your address book. As you type, entries in the address book that match what you are typing will be automatically filled in. When you see the right entry, press the comma or semicolon key to accept the entry and move on to the next recipient.
- Drag an entry from the Address Book window to one of the boxes.
- Drag an e-mail address from another message or text document to one of the boxes.
- In the Subject box, type the subject of your message.
- In the main text area, type your message.
- If you want to finish the message later, choose Finish Later from the Message menu to store the message in your Outbox.
- When you are finished, choose Send/Post Message(s) from the Mail menu.
- If you have Send Messages Immediately selected in your Preferences, you will see the Progress window. You can close this window without interrupting the download. To open it again, choose Progress from the Windows menu.
- If you do not have Send Messages Immediately selected in your Preferences, the message will be stored in your Outbox until you choose Send/Post Message(s) from the Mail menu again.

- You can save a message as you write it by choosing Save from the File menu.

Setting up a connection to your mail server
- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows
menu.
- Click to select the user(s) you want to send the message to. Hold down the Shift key to select more than one.
- On the Message menu, choose New Mail Message.
- In the Subject box, type the subject of your message.
- In the main text area, type your message.
- When you are finished, choose Send/Post Message(s) from the Mail menu.

- On the Message menu, choose New Mail Message.
- On the Edit menu, choose Formatting Toolbar.
- In the body, type some text, or place you cursor where you want to begin typing using the formatting you select.
- Do any of the following:
- To use a style, choose one from the Content menu.
- To change the size of text, choose a size from the Size menu.
- To make text Bold, click the "B" button.
- To make text Italic, click the "I" button.
- To insert a line, click the "-" button.
- To create a bulleted list, click the list button.
- To change paragraph alignment, click one of the three alignment buttons.
- To change the color of text, click the color box, and then choose a color using the Color Picker.

- If the message you are replying to is not open, in the message list, click the message title.
- On the Message menu:
- If you want to reply only to the author of the message, choose Reply To Sender.
- If you want to reply to the author and everyone who is listed in the To and CC boxes in the original message, Choose Reply To All.
- Add recipients to the To, CC, and BCC boxes.
- In the main text area, type your message.
- When you are finished, choose Send/Post Message(s) from the Mail menu.

- If the message you are forwarding is not open, in the message list, click the message title.
- On the Message menu, choose Forward.
- In the To, CC, and BCC boxes, type the names of the message recipients.
- In the Subject box, type the subject of your message.
- In the main text area, type your message.
- When you are finished, choose Send/Post Message(s) from the Mail menu.

- If the message you are redirecting is not open, in the message list, click the message title.
- On the Message menu, choose Redirect.
- In the To, CC and BCC boxes, type the names of the message recipients.
- On the Mail menu, choose Send/Post Message(s).

- You cannot change the subject or body of a redirected message.
